In 2022, the CEE Center for Young Black Professionals celebrated the acquisition of a new state of the art space to support young Black professionals.

We were honoured to contribute an art installation that represents all of the brilliant and innovative minds that will not only utilize this space to achieve their goals— but will also become inspiring leaders and change makers as a result of their integral contributions to our community.

We hope that our contribution to this space serves to remind us all about the impact of extending opportunities to one another and the importance of maintaining healthy collaborative relationships as we strive towards systemic change.

The paintbrush and the hairbrush represent the intersection of art and hair. Regardless of which brush is used, the outcome remains the same: art. And as storytellers, it is the tool we use for creative expression while redefining Black narratives and spaces.

We are the authors of our stories, and we have the privilege of telling them – one brushstroke at a time.

Using the brush as our tool for creative expression, we redefine Black narratives and spaces. In doing so, much like in the barbershop or hair salon, we aspire to create the kind of environment that fosters safety and vulnerability as each client takes a seat in our chair and shares their stories with us.
